As a matter of practice, once the firm engages with an owner about a possible sale, those conversations are kept in confidence: the firm does not disclose that it is speaking with you, and it does not make anything public without your agreement. Please keep first messages brief and save confidential documents for a later, private stage.

The firm treats owner conversations with care. As a matter of practice, once it engages with an owner about a possible sale it keeps those discussions private: it does not disclose that the two of you are speaking, it does not name the businesses it is in dialogue with, and it makes nothing public without your agreement. Sending a message alone does not create a confidential or contractual relationship, so please do not send confidential documents at first contact; those belong in a later, private stage once the firm has engaged with you.
